Scammers often seek there victims on many different chat platforms. SCAMMERS HAVE 2 GOALS-
1. To get the victims social media info (usually INSTAGRAM), or even there identify so they can find them on social media.
2 - to get the victim to send compromising videos of themselves, usually on SNAPCHAT.
It starts with "comfortable conversation" with the victims , and the scammer asks for the social media (most common is INSTAGRAM WHERE THEY CAN GAIN ACCESS TO UR FOLLOWERS). Then the chats get sexual, and the victim feels comfortable enough to send nudes to the scammer. The scammer records and screenshots everything.
After that, they will threaten to leak there nudes to ur followers unless you send them money or gift cards.
NEVER SEND!
High tech scammers seek there victims AND WONT EVEN ASK FOR THERE SOCIAL MEDIA , but they may ask for there general location. They scan your geographic area for social media, such as facebook, and can actually locate your identity using face detection technology. This is more rare, but is an issue on the rise.
Some scammers will use videos for there "live feed", so when the video call connects you think you are watching a girl, but lots of times you are actually just watching pre recorded video. By time you realize its not a live video feed, its usually too late.
Some scammers will even hire "cam girls" to pretend they are interested in you. The cam girls may even get naked for you on video. But its not for your enjoyment, its so they could get ur nudes leaked. The video calls are usually recorded and thats where the sextortion begins.
If you send a photo, usually by default the camera saves a geotag on the photo file, which can link your exact quadrantes where you physically are located where the photo was taken.
